Desert Ironwood is one of our favorites for woodturning because it turns to a buttery-smooth finish! Stunning golden shades with red undertones, brown hues, and black streaks combine with iridescence that truly set this hardwood apart. Blanks have been well aged. They are dry and ready to use. Note that larger pieces (3” x 3” and larger) may have some residual moisture but should be mostly dry if not all of the way dry. There may be an occasional surface or end check that will easily turn away. This is the densest North American and Northern Mexican species! This piece has multiple deep checks that you must be able to work with.
