This high quality material has been kiln dried and surfaced on two sides. Pieces may have some slight planer bite in areas of high figure due to the interlocked grain. See photos for splits which can easily be filled with a clear epoxy resin. This wood glues and finishes well. This might have a cup/twist/bow up to 1/8". This slab has multiple large penetrating splits present at the center of the slab. There are numerous bark incursions present. There are some planer skips. Must be able to work with!
Sipo, also known as Utile, has the most similar grain to Genuine Mahogany of all the woods. The color is a uniform reddish brown with a moderate natural luster. It is prone to planer tear out due to interlocked grain. A slight cedar-like smell is present when worked.
